DAVE EILAND
HEAD OF BASEBALL
Dave Eiland, Head of Baseball, brings his extensive expertise to Grand Central Baseball. Eiland is a former MLB player and coach and a two-time World Series winning pitching coach (2009 NY Yankees & 2015 KC Royals) Eiland was a pitcher for ten Major League Baseball seasons. Eiland played college baseball for the University of Florida and the University of South Florida, and thereafter, played professionally for the New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Eiland’s successful career led him to be a pitching coach for the New York Yankees, Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets. Eiland’s passion for the game, players and their families carries over into Grand Central Baseball.

STEVE SKRINAR
MLBPA CERTIFIED PLAYER AGENT
Steve joined Grand Central at the beginning of 2024, marking the beginning of his 15th season in Major League Baseball. His resume includes involvement in scouting and player development, front office experience, and as a player representative. Steve is an expert evaluator – determining a player’s potential, value, and longevity. He has served as a scout for both the Pittsburgh Pirates and Texas Rangers, and was involved with the MLB Amateur Draft as a member of both organizations. He started his career on the club side with the Miami Marlins, back in 2008, and eventually transitioned to the player side in the summer of 2016. On the player side, he's provided value in multiple areas, ranging from recruiting, client servicing, player branding, sourcing off-field and on-field endorsements, and contract negotiation. His knowledge of professional baseball and his player valuation experience continue to help educate clients and their families, while also providing peace of mind, as they focus all their efforts on their craft and on-field performance.

GEOFF DEGROOT
ASSISTANT HEAD OF BASEBALL / DIRECTOR OF SCOUTING
Geoff brings a wealth of baseball experience after spending 7 years working in the front office for both the New York Yankees and Miami Marlins. Most recently, Geoff served as the Farm Director for the Marlins, leading their entire Player Development department and Minor League Operation from Triple-A down to the Dominican Republic. Prior to his time as Farm Director, Geoff also helped lead the Amateur, Professional, and International Scouting Departments for the Marlins. Geoff spent time working in Player Development for the New York Yankees as well following his playing career. As a pitcher, he reached as high as Double-A Trenton in the Yankees Organization. Geoff graduated from Umass Lowell with a degree in Business Marketing where he also captained the baseball team.

JOEY NERO
SENIOR ADVISOR, BASEBALL OPERATIONS
Joey Nero, a seasoned professional with a decade-long tenure in baseball executive roles, has recently joined Grand Central Sports in 2024. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Nero graduated from Capital University Law School with a J.D. in 2015, following his earlier education at Ohio State University, where he earned a B.Ed. in 2012. During his career, Nero spent three years with the Cleveland Guardians (2013-2015) and a subsequent seven-year stretch (2016-2022) with the Miami Marlins. His most recent position was as the Assistant Director of Baseball Operations for the Marlins, where he handled a spectrum of responsibilities ranging from player contracts and negotiations to payroll management and player personnel decisions. Additionally, he oversaw advance scouting, player experience and video departments, showcasing his comprehensive understanding of the operational facets of professional baseball. Before his tenure in baseball, Nero served as a legal extern for esteemed institutions like the Supreme Court of Ohio Chief Justice Maureen O'Connor and the Ohio House of Representatives. He also contributed as a Sports Marketing Consultant for the Ohio State University Athletic Department. At Capital University Law School, Nero's leadership as President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Association underscored his passion for law in the context of sports and entertainment. In addition to his professional endeavors, Joey Nero serves as an adjunct professor of Sports Law within the esteemed Mike Cleary Sports Leadership Program at John Carroll University, located in University Heights, Ohio
